Who We Are
Zelený is about using what you have to make something amazing, and turning simple ingredients into something great. Drizzle it over salads, toss it with pasta, spread it on sandwiches, spoon it over eggs, meat, toast, it’s for EVERYTHING (which just so happens to be our slogan)!
The idea began years ago in my own kitchen. I started making herby green sauces as a way to use whatever herbs and greens were left in the fridge. Food waste has always been an issue I care about, and using leftover greens and herbs into a fresh sauce or dressing felt like a small but meaningful contribution. Over time, friends and family would tell me how much they love these sauces. Eventually I thought: why not share this with more people? Why not turn it into a recipe and build something with it?
Sourcing matters just as much as flavor. I use local, organic parsley and mint (I am currently in the process of receiving my OPPR and non-GMO certification), partnering with nearby farms and grocery co-ops to support the community that supports my business. Today, Zelený is proudly stocked in those same local spaces, coming full circle from my fridge to our shared tables.
Zelený means “green” in Czech, honoring my grandfather. He was a Holocaust survivor who immigrated to the United States as a teenager. After serving in World War II and retiring from the military, he built a successful kitchen business of his own. His grit, determination, love of good food, and appreciation for meaningful experiences inspire me every day. Zelený is, in many ways, a continuation of that spirit. It is resilient, resourceful, and rooted in bringing people together through food.
Zelený is there for the people. It can be used by the most experienced chefs as a culinary addition to any meal, to the busy on the go people who just need to make something quick taste like it took hours to make. From the vegans to grillers, chefs to microwave masters, this sauce gives everyone a chance to make something better. It’s for everything, and most importantly, it’s for everyone.
